Hello, I'm Rebecca Field with today's UPI entertainment update on this Monday, February, 11, 2008.Amy Winehouse is celebrating big wins following last night's Grammy awards. Despite the singer's recent personal troubles, she grabbed five trophies including best new artist and album of the year. Visa troubles kept Winehouse in London during the ceremony but she was still the star of the show...delivering an emotional acceptance speech and performing big hits like "Rehab." Meanwhile, the singer herself has been spending time in rehab where her rep says she is making lots of progress. Other big winners from last night include Kanye West...he snagged four awards including best rap album and best rap song. Herbie Hancock was the unexpected winner...he grabbed album of the year for his tribute to Joni Mitchell "River: The Joni Letters." There were also several memorable performances...Alicia Keys sang a duet alongside a virtual image of Frank Sinatra. And Beyonce teamed up with Tina Turner singing "Proud Mary" together.Heather Mills and Paul McCartney are trying to finalize their rocky divorce. The two appeared in court today to agree on the terms of the settlement almost two years after announcing their separation. Mills is reportedly looking for a deal around 100 million dollars. The pair will apparently be meeting for the next five days to come up with an arrangement. Mills and the former Beatle married in 2002 and have a four year old daughter Beatrice together.Hollywood writers and producers are finally making peace. Producers have reportedly agreed to give striking writers some of the money made from internet profits. The writer's guild of America will apparently now hold a vote tomorrow to end the strike. That means writers would be able to get back to work as early as Tuesday night in preparation for the upcoming Oscar Awards. The WGA has been striking for more than 3 months now, leaving TV viewers with mostly re-runs.Meanwhile the WGA honored the years' best writing in film and TV over the weekend. Joel and Ethan Coen's "No Country for Old Men" grabbed best adapted screenplay and "Juno," by Diablo Cody won best original screenplay. "The Office" and "Mad Men" were also recognized by the guild. Other winners include "The Colbert Report" which snagged best comedy series and "The Simpsons" was recognized in the animation category. There was no ceremony this year because of the strike. That's all for now, check out upi.com for the day's latest news and updates. Thanks for watching.
